NAMA’S (National Association of Mapua Alumni) 76th Grand Alumni Homecoming was celebrated last May 22, 2010 at the Grand Ballroom of Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati. This year’s theme was “NAMA in Pursuit of Excellence amidst Global Challenges.” Engr. Maximo E. Daquil, was the homecoming chairman. The affair was graced by MIT President Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea.

Outgoing NAMA President Engr. Macra A. Cruz gave a moving valedictory address as she profusely shared her experiences at the Fuda Hospital in China. She also inducted into office the newly elected officers and directors of MITEAA and FAMIE-EM.

Highlights of the event were the awarding of The Outstanding Mapuan (TOM) wherein nine (9) alumni who have excelled in their professions were given tribute. These year’s awardees were: Engr. Jesusito H. Sulit, EE 77 in the professional field of electrical engineering; Engr. Mario C. Marasigan, Geo 82 in the professional field of Geology; Engr. Freddie P. Yumang, ME 81 in the professional field of Mechanical Engineering; Lt. Col. Antonio C. Pacleb, TE 61 in the specialized field of Alumni Service; Engr. Danton G. Dizon, Che 77 in the specialized field of endeavor in Entrepreneurship; Engr. Petra Umali-Irlandez, Che 67 in the international field of endeavor in Alumni Service; Arch. Jaime F. Paras, AR 57 in the international field of endeavor in Architecture; Engr. Armand S. Cayan, ME 66 in the international field of endeavor in Mechanical Engineering and Engr. Maximino C. Mercado, CE 80 in the international field of endeavor in Entrepreneurship. For the year 2010, TOM search and awards committee was chaired by Immediate Past President Rodrigo C. Silvestre, and members were Engr. Sergio C. Balolong, Arch. Josefina M. Ramos, Engr. Leticia R. Guevara and Engr. Roel John C. Judilla. Board of judges was chaired by Engr. Alfonso C. Supetran, and members were Engr. Lauro D. Guevara, Engr. Dolores Legaspi-Lim, Ms. Luz L. Lozano and Engr. Roel John C. Judilla.

The recognition of golden and silver jubilarians also added glitter to the occasion.
The presentation of affiliate awards chaired by Engr. Sergio C. Balolong and co-chaired by Atty. Mona Lisa Buencamino made the evening exciting for the eleven (11) affiliates of NAMA. This year’s best affiliate award went to Electrical Engineering Group and the best affiliate president award went to Engr. Huberto “Bobby” Agoncillo, MITEAA President.

The election of new directors for the year 2010-11 was conducted by the election committee composed of Immediate Past President Rodrigo C. Silvestre as chairman and Engr. Lauro Guevara and Engr. Manuel Montecillo as members. The new set of officers and directors for NAMA year 2010-11 were as follows: Engr. Maximo E. Daquil, President; Engr. Lemicio J.S. Roxas, 1st Vice President; Cong. Jeci A. Lapus, 2nd Vice President; Engr. Antonina G. Moreno, Secretary; Engr. Arturo P. Cenal, Treasurer; Lt. Col. Rodolph G. Cannu, Auditor; Atty. Mona Lisa A. Buencamino, PRO; Engr. Huberto E. Agoncillo, Director; Engr. Nap Gutierrez, Director; Engr. Mario C. Marasigan, Director.
